Olympic Development Pool Picks! |
|
Tuesday, 01 January 2008 |

Congratulations to the seven Alliance 95 boys who were recently selected to the 2008 CYSA-North State Olympic Development Pool (ODP). Their efforts all began with try-outs at the District level back in June. Upon being selected into the District 4 pool, the boys then had several scrimmages against local teams in preparation for the “District Play Days” in September and October. The “District Play Days” are where each District in northern California gets an opportunity to compete against each other. At the same time, the State ODP coaches evaluate the players and determine those players to be invited to the State ODP try-outs. The State try-outs recently took place at the Morgan Hill Soccer Complex and the Ripon Sport Complex on December 1st and 2nd and December 8th and 9th, respectively. Practice for the State team will begin in late April or early May. Again, CONGRATULATIONS! This is quite an achievement. |

2007 Tournament Results Alliance 95: U13 Boys – Division 1 The Alliance 95 boys have had several tournament success stories during the 2007 season. To date, they have completed five tournaments; two platinum and three gold. They started the summer tournament season by playing in the San Juan California Cup in June. Alliance 95 made it to the finals but was defeated by a very strong San Juan Lightning 95 Blue team. In July the boys then went on to play in the Placer United Foothill Boys Cup. Again, they made it to the finals only to play their rivals the Union City Eagles. It was a very tough and exciting game but the boys fell to the Eagles 1-0. In August the boys had two tournaments lined up; the very prestigious Santa Clara Sporting Invitational and the Ballistic Summer Classic Tournament. The Santa Clara Sporting Invitational was filled with power house teams such as PAC Tigres, Union City Eagles, Mustang Celtic and San Juan Lightning 95 Blue. Alliance 95 made it to the quarter finals to play against and defeat the Tracy Gladiators 7–1. They then went on to the semi-finals to play against another rival, the Mustang Celtic. Unfortunately the boys were defeated 4-2. In late August, the boys went to play in the Ballistic Summer Classic. They have played in this Tournament every year since they were U10 and have done well each year. This was their year for this event. Alliance 95 went on to the finals to play against last year’s State Cup winners, Mill Valley Fusion. The boys dominated the game and defeated Mill Valley Fusion 4-2 to become the Champions. In September the boys took a break and concentrated on regular season play in GSSL.
