| | WCCYSL's U14 class 3 girls team the Kaos coached by Chris Rogers had the unique opportunity to train with the Walnut Creek Power. The Power is a semi pro team from the Women's Professional Soccer League made up of current and former college players. The WPSL is part of a 40 team National league that is just a notch under the Women's Professional League. In recent years it's rosters have been full of National Team players like Brandi Chastain, Sissi, Leslie Osborne and Abby Wambach. Coach Ernesto Silva invited the Kaos to attend a weekly training session held at The Bentley School in Lafayette. The session included a talk by Coach Silva, a "vitamins" drill, 1 v1, 2v2 and 3v3 drills. The 1.5 hour session ended with a lively shooting game and a team photo. On the following Saturday the Kaos attended the Power game versus the Monterey Blues at Las Lomas High in Walnut Creek. Check out the team and league on their website.

| | | ******************************************************************************** | | | Alyssa Wong began refereeing for WCCYSL when she was 12 years old, she is now 21. She recently had the opportunity to be the Center Referee for the U17Girls Class 1 State Cup Finals in Morgan Hill. This is a huge accomplishment and honor! Alyssa devotes almost every weekend from January to May working her way up from the preliminary games in CYSA District IV to the final games for Association Cup & State Cup tournaments. She does this while attending college full-time at San Jose State and holding 2 part-time jobs. This year, the winner of the State Cup will be moving on to the Regional Tournament in Lancaster, California for a week of play in June and Alyssa has been selected to referee in this tournament as well. In the last 2 years she has had the opportunity to travel with the State Referee Crew to Las Vegas and even Hawaii. The State Referee Crew is comprised of the top referees in our state. Not many Districts can boast that they have referees going to Regionals much less a small, local league like WCCYSL. Alyssa got her start with WCCYSL and we are proud of her! Alyssa should be an inspiration to all, especially to all the young up and coming referees.
Thank you to Alyssa’s mom, Pam Wong for keeping us posted on all of Alyssa’s accomplishments and hard work. Submitted By: Resa Kopp

| | | I want to tell you all about one of the greatest players WCCYSL has ever had! Her name is Christine Imazumi.
I am not sure how many years she has played, but she has played four
years for me at Hercules High. She is the perfect example of what a
Student-Athlete is supposed to be. Those of us who have had the
privilege to have coached her know her to be hard working, team
oriented, humble, never complaining and always smiling. In the
classroom she has excelled even more! Her "Final Four" in colleges
include UCLA, Tufts, University of Chicago and Cornell University. She
plans on a Biology major. UCLA has offered her a Regents Scholarship
where they pay you to attend their school!! I have coached youth sports
for nearly 26 years. She has made me the proudest I have ever been.
She is everything we want all our players to be!
